UK welcomes Renault Twingo

Renault Twingo

In the UK, New Twingo will be available in two engines and trims, both with a sporty and stylish feel. The Dynamique trim with a 1.2 16V 75 petrol engine is priced at £8,375. Manual air conditioning is available on Dynamique as a £525 option. The GT with the new 1.2 TCE 100 petrol engine, which is also available on some Clio and Modus versions, is £9,995, beating its nearest competitor, the Fiat Panda, on price.

Twingo Dynamique has most of its competitors beat in terms of standard equipment it offers such as individual sliding rear seats and front fog lights. Front lateral airbags are also standard on Twingo but aren’t available at all on the Citroen C2 1.4 or the Ford KA Zetec.

Twingo GT has the best combined mpg in comparison to its competitors as well as the lowest emissions, making Renault’s Twingo the environmentally-friendly choice. Both versions of Twingo form part of a wide choice of Renault models across most of its range that meet Renault’s strict eco2 criteria.

New Twingo GT’s list of standard equipment also impresses compared to its competitors. Safety features such as front lateral airbags aren’t available on the Fiat, despite Twingo being cheaper.

New Twingo – feisty, practical and connected

The 21st Century Twingo is a car with the modern buyer and their demands in mind.

Its sporty and stylish good looks combine with the largest boot space in its class ensuring there’s plenty of room behind the wheel and that there’s enough space for four occupants and all their belongings to travel in comfort.

The technologically minded can also be assured that Twingo has benefited from modern innovations such as active and passive safety features including ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) and driver and front passenger lateral airbags, or equipment to ensure comfort such as air conditioning which is standard on the GT.

Music and connectivity is key to the spirit of New Twingo and advances in technology have been fully incorporated into its development with the option of integrated Bluetooth Hands free telephone system as well as a ‘TunePoint’ (anchorage connection point concealed in the glove box) for MP3 players ensuring you can easily transfer your music from your pocket to your Twingo.

Twingo is assertive and assured, boasting the high levels of interior and exterior quality and equipment that a buyer expects from a modern vehicle.

Twingo = eco2

Renault recently launched its ‘eco2’ initiative which focuses on the full lifecycle of its vehicles from design right through to eventual recycling. Each eco2 vehicle must meet three strict criteria in terms of manufacturing, emissions (being 140 g/km or lower) and recycling.

New Twingo is an eco2 vehicle and beneath its sporty exterior lurks a breath of fresh air for the environment with a frugal, economical and ecological choice of engines. The 1.2 16V 75 emissions of 135 g/km and a combined mpg of 49.5.

The new 1.2 TCE 100 engine provides the torque of the 1.6 VVT 111 engine, the power of the 1.4 16V and the economy and emissions of the 1.2 16V 75. New Twingo also has the lowest emissions for a 100hp car.

With a combined mpg of 47.8, low emissions of just 140 g/km, a top speed of 117 mph and 145 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm, the 1.2 TCE 100 offers frugal fuel economy and a strong performance.

Personalise your Twingo!

Customers can also, for the first time on any Renault vehicle, personalise their New Twingo to reflect their own personality with a range of exterior decals available now. The fashion conscious can really express themselves and add their own design flair to the funky style of New Twingo.

As if Twingo isn’t already sporty as standard, customers can make sure their Twingo really stands out from the crowd with the Sport Look Pack for the Dynamique trim. For just £300, Twingo can rule the roads with extra tinted glass in the rear windows and tailgate and aluminium finished rear spoiler. A Sports body styling kit is also available which includes a deeper front spoiler at £800.

There is a choice of exterior decals on offer from £45-£80 available on New Twingo, such as white or black racing stripes (£80), poppy graphics (£80), white or black freestyle tattoo graphics (£80) and tribe door handle graphics (£45).

Renault Twingo Dynamique

The Dynamique is one of Renault’s most popular choices with customers and is available on New Twingo in the 1.2 16V 75 petrol engine and priced at £8,375.

2008 Renault Laguna

2008 Renault Laguna2008 Renault Laguna

With elegant styling, impressive handling and ride comfort, and a wide range of top-level petrol and diesel engines, the lead car of the company’s ambitious three-year growth plan, Renault Commitment 2009, promises to cause quite a stir.

Not just in its traditional volume manufacturer hunting ground in the upper-medium segment, but now also taking the challenge to the premium marques too.

One fundamental reason behind Renault’s unequivocal belief in the potential of its new model will become immediately apparent when the covers come off on the stand: its quality. Right from the first initial design stages through to production, the target of New Laguna being in the top three in its segment for product and service quality has been the driving force behind its development.

New Renault Laguna in the UK

New Renault Laguna

After much anticipation, Renault today announces full UK pricing and specification for its eagerly-awaited New Laguna range, the flagship car for the company’s three-year growth plan, Renault Commitment 2009. Prices start at £15,990 and in some cases, are more than £500 less than the outgoing range.

With a target of being in the top three of its segment for both product and service quality, New Laguna has high standards to live up to. To do so, as the emblem of Renault’s continued pursuit of quality, the newcomer boasts a high-quality interior, impressive driving dynamics and offers complete peace of mind for its customers.

Quality is the first undertaking of Renault’s Commitment 2009 plan. New Laguna was engineered and will be manufactured with a level of quality never reached to date by Renault. This is why New Laguna will include, as standard across the range, a three-year, 100,000 mile warranty.

With several of its key rivals, including the new Ford Mondeo, set firmly in its sights, New Laguna is priced competitively in the upper-medium class.

In spite of the overall gains in quality and specification, the Hatch models are an average of £300 less than their current Laguna II equivalents. For example, the likely best-seller, Hatch Dynamique 2.0 dCi 150, costs just £18,400, £470 less than the current model.

Many of the engine and transmission options are available across the whole New Laguna range, allowing customers to choose their trim level easily in line with their preferred fuel type, economy and emissions needs. The only differences to this are that the 1.5 dCi 110 engine and 2.0 dCi 130 engines are available in Expression and Dynamique, while the 2.0 dCi 150 Auto FAP and 2.0 16V 170 Auto are reserved for Dynamique models and above. Further engines are likely to be added in 2008.

Six-speed gearboxes are standard across the range, for both the automatic and manual versions.

Impressive equipment levels as standard

In keeping with New Laguna’s aims to be in the top three for product and service quality, standard equipment levels are high for both the Hatch and Sport Tourer.

Core features on the entry-level Expression for both bodystyles includes: 16” alloy wheels, 60W CD-RDS radio with fingertip remote control, air conditioning, alarm (Category 1), body coloured bumpers, door mirrors and handles, driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment, electric windows all-round, electrically heated door mirrors, keyless car with Renault Card and leather steering wheel.

Moving up the range, Dynamique trim adds a sporty edge to proceedings with chrome cabin detailing and figure-hugging front sports seats in charcoal cloth and part leather upholstery with lumbar adjustment. Completing the added comfort and style features for what is expected to be the best-selling version of New Laguna, are a leather steering wheel with flat bottom section, cruise control, front fog lamps, speed limiter and chrome window surrounds which add elegant lines to the car’s already svelte exterior.

A new model for the Laguna range, replacing the former Privilège, is Dynamique S, which emphasises the car’s sporting air even further. On the outside, 17” Spider alloy wheels set the tone for the interior which boasts leather and alcantara electrically adjustable and heated sports seats, and aluminium dashboard and interior inserts. Elsewhere in the cabin, life on board and general ease-of-use is also made even more serene with the addition of an automatic parking brake, automatic headlamps and windscreen wipers and climate control.

Completing the New Laguna range is the elegant Initiale trim level. Pale wood trim and beige full leather upholstery abound in its luxuriously-appointed cabin, packed with technology. Among its hi-tech features are a 120W single CD-radio with MP3 CD reader and Bluetooth™ satellite navigation with full colour screen.

Inside, the top-of-the-range model also benefits from: electrically heated front seats with memory, electrochrome rear view mirror, integrated sunblinds in the rear side and tailgate window (Hatch), rear central armrest with storage and two cupholders, rear reading lights and Renault Hands Free keycard. On the outside, Initiale versions will be distinguishable by their electrically heated and folding door mirrors, front and rear parking sensors and bi-xenon directional headlamps. Metallic paint also comes as standard.

Several other features for added convenience on the load-lugger are bag hooks in the boot and an opening tailgate window (standard on Initiale and £200 option for other versions).

With its rakish roofline and muscular stance, the new estate is expected to take a significant share of New Laguna sales, and as such, has been priced accordingly, with the current price difference between Hatch and Sport Tourer models cut by £150 to £950.

Renault explains excellence plan

Renault Symbol

French vehicle manufacturer Renault has explained the aims of its "excellence plan", which was introduced last summer as part of an ongoing initiative to improve the brand’s quality.

Detailing the E4 part of the Renault Excellence Plan, the company said this included five objectives which are applied throughout the group to ensure quality on an international scale.

The first is to design robust vehicles, while second is the goal to manufacture completely compliant models throughout its range.

E4 also aims to increase Renault vehicles’ reliability in all types of use and maintain both sales and after-sales quality.

Finally, the company constantly strives to instil a "culture of quality" throughout its product line, which may be encouraging for people thinking of buying a Renault.

"Today, quality of service is one of the elements of competition; in the future, this will be the main element of competition," remarked Carlos Ghosn, chief executive officer and president of the group.

Vehicles currently manufactured in the firm’s range include the Kangoo and Clio.
